WE EMPOWER RURAL COMMUNITIES TO BUILD SUSTAINABLE LOCAL FOOD SYSTEMS
What are sustainable food systems?
Sustainable food systems provide people with access to healthy and nutritional foods, while ensuring that the system of production limits environmental degradation and improves social and economic conditions for present and future generations.
Why does this matter?
We Believe…sustainable food systems are the key to creating lasting transformational change. When communities embrace thriving sustainable food systems, children eat diverse meals, gender equality increases, families are lifted out of poverty, children can go to school and the health of the earth is maintained and replenished.
We Empower…communities in Mozambique to access the proper resources and tools needed so that they can have ownership over their own sustainable food systems. We derive this notion from the concept of Food Sovereignty.
WE BELIEVE THAT SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEMS ARE THE KEY TO FIGHTING HUNGER, POVERTY, AND INEQUALITY.
